It depends. If it's in the basement, I generally just leave them alone because they're always going to come back anyway, and they don't really bother anybody in those areas. If they're in the main of the house, I sometimes kill them if I'm startled or if it's running about and I'm afraid of it getting in a shoe or blanket or something.

Though if I have the presence of mind, and something handy nearby to capture the spider in, I will try to get it and take it outside.

I've grown more accepting of spiders as I've aged. In the past I hated them. But they're not so bad really. And after one experience of having a writing spider residing in my window for months, I grew to really like her and felt very bad for the times I'd killed spiders in the past. They're fascinating creatures.

Raid is horrible. The insects writhe and convulse for a while before it kills them. Very cruel.

It depends on what kind they are... If they are daddy-long-legs or a non-poisonous, not biting type of spider I usually let them go. Some times I rescue the daddy-long-legs from my boyfriend. He hates spiders, they scare the crap out of him.

I usually kill those creepy wolf spiders or the big ones with fangs I can see. I went camping this weekend and there were three wolf spiders in my tent when I woke up... I definitely killed them.

Spiders are the unsung HEROES of all life as we know it. Without them the insects and bugs would take over the entire world and wipe us out. They do more insect control than any other organism. However, their bite is very bad, so don't let them stay in the house. The best thing you can do for them outside is to not use insecticide.

Many Scots believe it's bad luck to kill a spider. Plus, they devour more harmful insects in and around your home. Unless you're talking something like the Aussie funnel web spiders, I say let them be.

I don't kill them. If they weren't doing harm to me, then why kill them? I usually trap them in a glass and slide a piece of paper underneath and let them go outside. Karma is a *****.

Some people squish them simply because they're afraid.

Generally, I try to let them go. But some of the spiders where I live are so big you could slap a saddle on them, so I have to kill them sometimes.

I've never killed a spider, or any bug on purpose anyway. Well, I've killed fleas, and mosquitoes. But not spiders, maybe something to do with Charlotte's web...

Kill!! When our son was little-he was bitten by a Brown
Recluse and so was another family member. I was
bitten by a large brown spider when I lived in the south.
Still have the scars. That's why I kill them.

Maybe the thumbs down troll doesn't know that the Brown
Recluse is highly poisonous. My son and dad almost died.
Or does that make you happy? My son got blood poisoning
and it took 2 months before he was healed.

I always catch them and put them outside gently
but sometimes I just let them hang out in my office, and name them, oh there's Charlotte now (not kidding)

we don't really have poisonous spiders here, if we did, I might think other wise, I don't know

I let them go when I'm home - kill them when I'm at school because I live on the 8th floor and I have no where to put them
I used to leave them alone until a spider laid eggs in my room and I woke up one day to find hundreds of baby spiders all over my ceiling. learned that lesson! :D
