I am thinking of change my son’s last name who is 2 from his fathers to mine or at very least a hyphenated last name. Is this difficult and what is the estimated time that it takes to have this done?

Depends on the reason you state on the paperwork for wanting to change it. If the father is available and is against it, you will have a problem. This sounds very odd to me so it probably will to the court.

I checked into this in Oregon. I couldnt do it without the fathers consent because the child was under the age of 18.
After 18 they can change their name to whatever they want.
