Does he like to read? get him a $30 gift card from your local book store. You say he buys for himself, now you've given him what he likes best. Does he plant flowers in the yard? Try a gift card to Home Depot or the local nursery. Does he enjoy movies? get tickets to the local movie house. rent them? then give him a gift card to blockbuster or netflix.

A promise to write each month and update him on what's going on in your life doesn't cost you much, but he'll love it more than all the rest.

Plan a special luncheon for just you and grandpa. Plan on having him talk about when he was your age and if you are smart you will take along a tape recorder to keep these memories forever! He will love the special day with you and you will gain valuable insight about your grandpa and his youth.

You could get a picture of all the family and put it in a frame or in a nice ornament, with what ever type inscription you'd like and the date. Even if he has everything, this would still be a lovely gift.

What a sweet granddaughter you are!
I have two ideas:

1. Buy a really beautiful photo album and fill it with photo's of your family.

2. Buy a swiss army knife and have it engraved! He'llo lvoe the personal touch!

Good luck! I'm sure he'll love whatever you get!

this is what I do. Whenever I have to buy for people that are hard I always ask those around them what they like to eat, what scent they wear, stuff like that. Then if their fav. snack is M&M's I get them that and then get them like a bottle of the scent they like, blades for their razor, a prepaid card for their favorite resturant, or a prepaid card for their favorite store. Hope this helps! Good Luck!

A picture of the two of you in a unique frame would be nice and sentimental...or...a clock, books, subscription to a magazine of his interests, weather radio, personalized Christmas tree ornament, or make him his favorite dessert ,meal,or candy in a basket...=)

do you like to wright?...........well, if you do, wright your grandpa a letter, a poem, a tribute of love, or something like that.....buy the most beautiful picture frame you could and place your writing inside. Older folks ( like myself) like the more personable things :-)

PS.....type up the letter on your computer in a pretty font, then find a beautiful colored paper to copy it on.

You might want to fix up a nice basket with whatever he likes or might like -- various kinds of mustard, or cheeses, or coffees. Men are hard, but that used to work well with one man I knew.
