I'm not a parent, but I remember saying that to my parents as a teenager, and I feel bad for it now I had argued with my mom one time and told her I hated her and then told my friend about the argument and she told me you should never say that to your parents because you never know if that might be the last words you say to them. I realized she was right and didn't say it anymore after that. In fact, after that, I started apologizing to my parents if I pulled any attitude with them...I love them and they did so much for me growing up (and still do) that they didn't deserve my disrespect.

My kids never said it in front of me. So I really didn't have that heart ache. Although I'm sure many times before they were grown and left home, they felt it and possibly said it behind my back. My little nephews use to tell their mom "I don't yike (like) you again" they were 2 and 3 years old. She use to tell them, "You may not like me again, I don't like the way you are acting again". I had a friend that use to tell her daughter "I will always love you, but I will not always like the things you do, when you don't behave". Give this a try next time your little one tells you this. It makes them stop and think.

No. My kids all said that at one point or another - and always when I had made a decision regarding their well-being that they didn't want to hear. Too bad - I am their father, not their buddy. Well, it's been years and years - and now, when they come see me, they all thank me for being a loving and caring Dad - even my stepkids. They tell me that my saying "No" when I did has kept them from serious errors and helped guide them to success in their everyday lives. Yeah, they still admit that at times, I REALLY p i s s e d them off - but they thank me for it.

I'm not a parent but when I was a kid I told my mom that and it hurt her feelings so much. I apologized but I still felt bad. I hope if I decide to have kids they don't say that to me.

I'm not a parent however I am a daughter who once told her mother that she was "a stupid b%tch that I hated" yep that slap across the face really stung....and we both cried because it hurt me and she was hurt that she actually hit me.
I never bad talked my mother again. Now at 20 things are great and I've actually said sorry several times.

Why, you know it's just the puberty and the raging upset hormones. I don't take it personally when my sister or my parents say they hate me. it's the situation that I put them in that they hate.
