I am not sure how much the item cost but i bet it was over $100. He isnt a bad guy he is just 18 and still going through the wild stage. I know it is not cool, but I dont think he deserves a criminal record for this. What should he do? he has a court date coming up. any story he can tell the judge or write the manager an apology letter may help. or do free work for them or something??? I dont know. Please help.

First and foremost--RETURN THE ITEM. Next, the idea of writing a letter of apology to the store manager is a good idea. Keep a copy to show the judge. At the court hearing, show remorse--be TRULY SORRY and mean it. Plead GUILTY WITH AN EXPLANATION. Offer to help out the store FOR FREE to show that he really is sorry for what he did. Get names of people he spoke with at the store and tell the judge about that too. It is quite possible those involved from the store in catching him will be there to testify. Tell the store security what the weakness is in their system that even made him think of getting away with the theft--for that they will at least be a little thankful in helping prevent future theft. In most cases, someone who just turned 18 will get probation for first offense.

Oooh it incredibly is undesirable. Sorry yet because he's nineteen he's seen an grownup and could be sentenced to detention center. Regardless with the fee the shop has to sell 30 of a similar products in order that as that they are in a position to regain the misplaced money that wasn't paid for. Probation may well be a lot of issues and that i might look for suggestion from an authority on that so as to get the wonderful concept as a results of fact i do no longer understand approximately that too lots. in any case wish he gets out of it. sturdy success!

Odds are he'll get a slap on the wrist.

However he'd better get a good lawyer and then take it like a man.

As the saying goes "don't do the crime if you can't do the time".

Ask about getting deferred adjudication. That means that if you keep your nose clean for 3 years or however long they say, then it will disappear from your record.
