Its a nice name but I have to agree that it is a feminine boys name. I like more masculine boys names like Jake, Mitchell, Matthew etc..names that have no female conotation to them.

BUT if you love it go with it. As you said I have never actually met a girl with the name Tristan; Kristen and Kirsten yes, but my theory is if you have any inkling of a doubt then don't do it or you will spend eternity second guessing yourself.

best of luck

I looked it up. Tristan as a boys name means "TUMULT". Tumult means....
A loud noise, especially that produced by an excited crowd, or a state of confusion, change or uncertainty, according to the Cambridge Dictionary. Do you as a parent ,really want to deal with this youthful "tumult" as he grows up? Keep the "JAMES", but let the "Tristan" go.

tristan is so cute and if your naming your girl tristan, you have a tacky name. But tristan James are so so so cute. Have you ever seen that movie Tristan and Isolde, cute movie but has tragic ending, still TJ is very cute

The only person I know with the name Tristan is a big sissy. I don't think that has anything to do with his name though.

If you like it, go for it. You will always have some people liking and disliking the names you've picked out.
