Do you think this series is a good thing or a bad thing, and why? I think it is great and is working, but since I live in Texas, the time they were in Murphy (Dallas area), all I hear is a bunch of complaints and stuff which I think is crap! Sure, NBC is making money off of it, but does it not also get these pigs off the street.

yes yes yes it is wonderful and exposes those guys like professionals who lead such "perfect" lives no one would ever think to not trust them. i was an elem teacher and it all makes me sick because I know all too well what happens to little ones. I also realize it can be like an obsession and they need help but I think sex offenders have a very low rate of rehabilitation.

Its not getting every pig off the street. Heck, they bust some perv and he is back on the street the same day. Lack of resources in most towns police departments, I suppose. How about NBC use the money they get from sponsors and the ratings and throw it toward the police departments they are airing to bust the predators? They would never do that because they would be losing money. While they are at it, how about the police departments, fine the parents of these children, as well because they are not monitoring what their children are doing online??? How about people stop being idiots and know already, online is open for predators, just like society is. Pervs find you anywhere, where are the parents to protect these kids and set rules for them? Yes, this world is full of pervs, but its also full of unware parents who are not totally involved in their childs life. I know they don't want to sufficate them, but for GOODNESS SAKES!!!!!! There has been more then enough media coverage about the dangers of internet use with children and teens, PARENTS OPEN YOUR EYES, YES IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOUR CHILD. How many more stories do we have to hear about online predators to get this through the PARENTS HEADS???? Guess what parents? The television used to be a good babysitter for your kids, but the internet is filled with someone who really wants to take advantage of your child and is actually allowed to converse with them.. WAKE UPPPPPPPPPPPPPP, GET INVOLVED.

It's not an entirely bad thing, but they are baiting people and making "the problem" seem bigger than it really is and not focusing on areas where the problem is in fact bigger.

In the so called "inner cities" the teen pregnancy rate is out of control, all these girls did not get pregnant through the immaculate conception. Chris Hansen should get a pair and see if he can pull some of this stuff in some of those neighborhoods. You see how all shows take place in upper class neighborhoods? Very convenient.

If parents were doing their jobs and supervising their brats there wouldn't be any 13 year olds chatting with adults online, once again prosecution is being used in lieu of prevention. If you leave the doors of a bank open after dark and tons of cash laying around on the counters and desks OF COURSE you're going to be catching a ton of thieves. Thieves which by the way would not under normal circumstances be committing crimes.

I think this is a great show, and what they're doing helps get the pervs off the streets....except there's some people out there who apparently don't get all the good that they're trying to do.

For example, those 23 guys they caught in Mansfield, TX won't be put in jail cuz of some kind of procedural thing that the district attorney was talking about in the latest issue of TV guide. And that guy who killed himself, his sister is suing NBC's To Catch A Predator, because she believes the police were pressured into making an arrest w/ him, but how can they lie about finding child porn at his home? How does she explain that?

Personally I think it's a GREAT thing. I don't have kids myself, but it's a great thing to know that there are people out there who care about the kids and getting these lowlifes off the street (and internet). I'm surprised that people in your area are complaining. I live in Athens, Georgia and whenever it's on, I'm watching. It's always good to put a name with a face. It's also pathetic that the guys who prey on these young girls can't, or should I say WON'T find a woman their own age. Which says a lot about them. I can't wait for another season of To Catch A Predator to see what sh*t they scrape off the bottom of shoes this time!

So funny. I was just watching this show with my husband today and we were having this same discussion.

He said that it was "entrapment".

I said that, yes, it looked like entrapment, but who gives a $#it?! If it's getting these guys off of the street, then so be it! Besides, the people doing the "entrapping" were just looking for a good news story. We've all seen and/or heard of news people/"paparazzi" doing worse things to get an entertaining story. If the cops just happen to be there when the pervs come running out of the house, oh well! They shouldn't have been doing something worthy of being hauled off by the police if they didn't want to get hauled off by the police!

Besides, the world needs to know what kind of sickos are out there so that they can take precautions to protect themselves. And their children.

I say, "Kudos to Dateline NBC!!!"

Just my two cents. :-)

I think it's great. Who cares if NBC or Perverted Justice is making money off of it. Those people need to be exposed for what they really are. I'd rather hear of NBC or Perverted Justice making a profit off of exposing one of these guys than read another headline of an innocent kid being molested, kidnapped, or killed by someone they met online.

What is even funnier than RIFF's comment is the people that watch a TON of tv and know all about Chris Hansen and the To Catch a Predator show and THEY STILL DO IT!! What a bunch of sick and completely twisted people for ever wanting to get with these young girls in the first place, but on top of that they are COMPLETELY IDIOTIC!!!
It is one of the best shows on television! I love it!

I say it is money well spent, if it gets some of these perverts off the street, and behind bars, I say good for NBC. Have a good night.

I think it is great. Everyone needs to know who is in their vicinity that can do such great harm. The problem is that people like to do what they like to do. For example, if you are a heterosexual, there is not much chance that you are going to become a homosexual and visa versa . These preferences are deeply ingrained, and I don't believe they can be changed. That is a good reason to know who is in our communities so we can protect our families.
