what do you get when you star someone? or is it just to let them know the question is interesting?

it's either because it's interesting or you want others to see it! sometimes i star because people star mine. the questions i star, my contacts see that and possibly answer it. the starrer gets nothing for it. here's a star for you now! i'm wondering will any of my contacts answer it!??!
