I'd do it if I had to but I'm a little leery of it after seeing the botched jobs on tv. I'm not sure I've seen anyone die from a "bad brace job" or end up disfigured as a result. So I don't see how the two can be put in the same category.
But you make an interesting point...if we'll do braces for cosmetic reasons, the "nay sayers" that use the God excuse need to think again.

Ummm..... I would not do cosmetic surgery unless it was a need ..... getting my boobs lifted because I had a baby is not a need....... If your are deformed or there is a threat to life then you should do what can make yourself better... like any other surgery. If you are getting plasic or cosmetic surgery because you hate your nose... or you think your boobs are too small or blah blah blah... you really need to get a life.... there are more inportant things inlife to worry about and more inportant things to spend money on........ we all have something we hate but that is what makes us unique. (Not you personally Erin....just speaking generally...... thanks for the question! :)) I understand the whole braces thing..... lol.... doesnt that fire you up?

Good point, but your teeth can be taken care of before they turn into a disaster train wreck. Your teeth can interfere with many things, so it's okay to get braces. Plastic is just....idk...it's just a cover up. Braces are actually fixing a problem that causes problems.

Plastic surgery - only to remove some scars. Braces - I could really use some. My teeth look like they collided at high speed!

I wouldn't do it for looks--too much risk involved. I would if I had to (like reconstructive surgery from a car wreck, etc.), just not voluntarily. And braces...I wish I would have had them when I was younger!

Not right now. I certainly could use some but am content with myself at the moment. I say if it's important to you and you have a reputable doc. and can afford it.....go for it. Just don't over do. Some people don't have any original parts left.

i wouldnt get plastic surgery. no way no how. and i hate braces. i got mine off last november and im so happy bout that!!!! i hated 'em with a passion!!

depends. If I had no face or a weird disformation, then yes. If I wanted bigger boobs or a fake nose, then no. And braces- worst 2 years of my life.
