I was watching TV - getting ready for work when the surreal images appeared on TV. Being a Former Combat Medic as well as certain other MOS's and being 47 years old at the time, went back down to the US ARMY recruiter's office to re-enlist. Never thought any thing could have such an impact on my life, needles to say I missed the age to re-enlist by 4 years at the time, had friends who were in the Pentagon that day, I am still in touch with one - who was at the time a ARMY Coronal - just starting a program as a liaison officer with the White House - which after 9/11 became Homeland Security. Have listened to many interesting stories from him and his daughter is my son's girlfriend now - and he works on the oversight committee for Congress over Homeland Security....It had such a drastic impact on my life - that I have a special appointment with my PTSD Dr. tomorrow, 9/11/07 - just to talk and thank-you very much for the time to talk with you, tonight, 9 PM Pacific Coastal Time.....will go to bed now - and know I will be in a Good place tomorrow at my job at the local Veterans Hospital. P.S. The Last 3 years we have put concrete barricades around our hospital, do not think any credible evidence has been revealed to repeat this process tomorrow. HAHUNTER I remember turning off the TV for next 2 weeks or more, just to sad to rewatch over and over.....

I too was working in a dental surgery but all we had were radios. I was working on the reception desk. A nurse came out from one of the surgeries and told me and the other girl there that America was in trouble and two planes had flown into the twin towers. The strange thing was that, because we didn't have anything visual to go on, it was hard to take in just how serious the situation was. We brought our own radio to the desk and listened for the rest of the afternoon. A few hours after hearing about it, I went home and saw the images on the news and just started crying. I couldn't believe that there were such evil people in the world that were more than willing to make others suffer like this. I remember the feeling of fear I felt and that memory will never leave me.
Like you said, we should think of all the people who lost someone that day.

I was asleep on the couch. I woke up in time to watch the second plane hit on TV. I was in NYC the following week delivering a load of office furniture about 5 blocks away from ground zero. I was lucky enough to talk to some people who saw the whole thing unfold. The mood that they all had was one of togetherness that I think we should all have when there is not a tragedy to hold us all together.

I was on the high street and was shocked by silent images of the events in a TV shop window. Silence gave it an even eerier quality, than with sound.

I knew what I was looking at and it was chilling. When I got home I could see that things had got worse and it was a long afternoon watching events unfold.

Condolences to all who were harmed by this terrible event.

I was about to leave for work in the afternoon and was flicking channels idly on the TV. I remember flicking to one where I saw a plane fly into the towers and thinking "Just another disaster movie..." and just switched off and left the house. It was the next morning before I actually switched on the TV again to watch the news and realised that the "disaster movie" I saw the afternoon before actually happened for real!

True story.

Me to. My condolences to all those people who lost someone and suffered in that tradegy. Well done to all those brave people who help in that tradegy.

I was in college when I heard about it. I think it was on the radio in the class room.

I remember...
I went out to the living room to check the weather. It was shortly after 9 am...I turned on the local news, and I saw the one tower smoking. Then, I literally watched as the second plane flew into the tower! It was awful!

i was nursing yet another black eye believe it or not.
I remember crying when i saw what had happened , i really felt for all those poor people that had their lives ruined in some way by such a heartless act of terror. The world is a cruel place.

i had just come out of a financial services meeting.. and my colleague, a little jewish guy said there had been some kind of explosion in New York. He was always joking around so I thought he was messing about - even when he showed me the pic on the BBC website, i didnt realise it was real. The penny dropped soon afterwards
