I tripped on my laptop cable and now I have a problem recharging my battery. The laptop will still work from the battery, but if I only plus the AC adapter in, it won't charge. BUT, if I connect a USB device like a printer, or an s-video cable connected to my TV, then the battery charges and the laptop will run off the AC.

I also notice that I don't necessarily have to put the USB cable firmly in the port; as long as it's just touching some metal on the inside the laptop, it will charge. It could have something to do with being a ground....

Any ideas on what I can do or should do?

the ground broke on the power supply.
you could fix the cable.
you could get a new power supply.
get a meter , trace the wire.
if you can solder well, you can cut 2 inches off the cable where
it hits the power supply and re-wire.
