Ok so i sold a few phones on ebay recently. I had several problems that delayed the shipment of them so one day the buyer called me up asking about it. I started off nice and reasured her it would be in the mail that day (and it was) Anyway while she was on the phone she wouldnt take "it was on the way" for an answer. She got irrate and started demading things. I didnt blame her because i wouldve been upset that it was late but it ended up with her stating "that her husband is a federal marshal and he is going to show up at my door if she doesnt get the phone soon". I laughed at her and said what does it matter if hes a marshal i was a deputy marshal and i did presidential security in the air force. then i hung up on her. Next thing I know her husband calls me and says he is a marshal and he wants the marshal service to investigate me for impersonating and possibly an ebay scam since i sent the phone late. is that silly or does it hold water. he is actually a chief in the marshals

Just. Plain. Stupid. I've done several transactions on eBay, close to 200. From time to time things just arrive late. From time to time, i get paid late. It happens. She needs to get a life and move on. I wouldn't be to worried, even if eBay looks into it, you should be fine. And as far as the Marshal thing, again, just plain stupid. You didnt "impersonate anything", tell him to contact me, and i'll tell him to go to hell for you.

I don't see where the marshal thing factors into it other than she's using scare tactics. I guess the big question here is how late you sent the item - 1 week, 2 weeks, a month? She is justified in being upset if you took too long to send it, since as a seller you made a commitment. However, she addressed the issue way too rudely. The right thing for her to do was to give you the benefit of the doubt regarding the "it's in the mail". Since you said it's already been sent, then it's a non-issue. She's just a shining example of what's wrong with people today.

I wouldn't leave feedback until she leaves hers - if she does. you know she'll leave neg feedback if she gets the chance. Since you sent the item, if she does leave a neg, contest it.

He's just trying to intimidate you. Who are you impersonating that they want to investigate you for? What BS. If you have a USPS tracking number for the package with the phone in it, give them the number and tell them to track it themselves online if they don't believe you've sent it. And if they persist in harrassing you, report them to EBay and make a police report so there's a recond. Some people just get off on acting like jerks. Don't let it worry you, and DON'T give out your telephone number to any more strangers.

At this point, the best you can do is try to reassure them until the phone arrives. I would offer to fax them proof that it has been shipped, if you can do that. I wouldn't worry about being investigated. Once they get the phone, this will all be over.
