The biggest suggestion I can give you is just to relax. Take a few deep breaths. Do something to alleviate your stress, like listening to music you like. The more relaxed you are, the more confidence a director will have in your ability to perform under pressure-- and believe me, acting in front of people puts you under a lot of pressure.

But it's also tons of fun! So get up there and put your whole heart into your audition. Think about your character for a while; try to get a mental picture in your head of how he would act... In the book version of "Treasure Island," Dr. Livesey is an extremely corageous, intellegent, and level-headed doctor. He is more or less Jim Hawkins' mentor and is responsible for saving the crew on more than one occasion. He even leads the expedition (and narrates the book) at one point. Get an idea of how this will shape your portrayal of him, and go for it.

As far as saying lines-- with this character and all of his positive qualities, speak with authority and certainty that what you're saying is true. Don't go for any kind of accent unless it is suggested by your director.

Sorry that was so long-winded! Break a leg, and let us know how it turns out ;)

Stand up, look the other actor in the eye and say the lines like you mean them.
