This is my 3rd baby, but I have never had this done. 1st baby was naturally occurring labour, 2nd baby was induced with Cervidil and Oxytocin drip.

No . Its uncomfortable .. if your dialated and effaced.

I was stripped with my first ... wasn't dialated or effaced. It hurt like a son of a gun and I was expecting it to hurt.

With this one ... it was a bit wee uncomfortable and hurt a little bit .. but I knew it could hurt a lot worse (like labor pains).
I just breated and relaxed through it and he was done in a minute.

I had cramping afterwards along with bloody show. I had bloody show for two days afterwards .. and went from 1 cm to 3 cm in two days. It wasn't til' two days after that .. that I went into labor ... after I got checked again at 3 cm (when I was bleeding).

Good Luck! Usually it works from 24 to 48 hours .. if you don't go into labor .. it didn't send you into labor .. but will help you progress most likely!

...

I forgot to add ... with people I know that have had it done .. usually if it hurts and you have cramping they did something most likely and it will help you progress more. If you don't feel a thing they most likely did crap!!! The farther in they get their fingers the better a job they do and will help you out!
