I don't remember the date but it was during the spring or summer of 1978. I was flipping the channels & saw a baseball game was in progress. Prior to that i didn't watch baseball so i decided to give it a shot. It was the Yankees Vs Baltimore. Baltimore was leading 3-0 when the Yankees scored 5 runs & led 5-3 when a rain delay happened. after a long wait the rest of the game was cancelled but because Baltimore didn't get a chance to bat in the bottom of the 6th(or 7th) the 5 runs that the Yankees scored was voided & they declared Baltimore the winners by a score of 3-0. Even though the Yanks lost that game i got hooked to baseball & the Yankees right afterwards & here i am 29 years later still a fan.

You gotta support the home team. I'm from Portland so we didn't really have a home team. The Portland Beavers at the time was a Phillies affiliate. So when I was a kid I was a huge Phillies fan. I loved Mike Schmidt and Pete Rose too.

When I got older I was a Will Clark fan so I liked the Giants mostly because i had his rookie card and wanted him to do well. Also I liked what he stood for and he was just a stand up guy.

Now I'm a Mariners fan. They are close enough to being the home team. I even had a bunch of those mothers cookies cards from way back in the days of Mark Langston and Spike Owen. I really like Ichiro. I think he is any awesome athlete and is always working to help the team. He has great fundamentals and attitude. I would tell my kids in little league to watch everyrthing about him. His offense, defense, practice regimen, and philosophy on playing the game.

I worshipped my older brother and he is a Red Sox fan. He took me to my first game and I have been hooked since! After the Red Sox had won game 4 of the World Series in 2004 I called him (he lives in Florida) and he was sleeping!!!! I just couldnt even believe it! I guess that proves who the biggest fan in the family is now!

i used to not even care about baseball, but my whole family loved the game and always watched it... then i moved to the city where their favorite team played and after 8 years of living there, i couldn't help but become a fan... i even spent 2 years living about 4 blocks from the ball park...

Joe Collins, Yankee first baseman in the early 1950's, was our neighbor and family friend. I used to play with his son and grew up a big fan. Phil Rizzuto used to carpool with Joe and play catch with us. I used to attend Yankee games as a teen and chat with Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle near the right field bullpen.

My Dad brought me to Fenway when I was 7 or 8. My grandfather was a Red Sox fan too, but had been a Braves fan before they moved out of Boston. I bring my daughter to Fenway. Naturally, fear and loathing of your favorite team are in my blood. Sorry.

I was born and raised in the St. Louis area and my family has been long-time Cardinals' fans. The first game I remember is my 7th birthday and I've been hooked ever since, in spite of the fact that the 1994 strike killed my mother.

I saw Don Mattingly play for the first time. I remember how hard he played. He gave it all he had, every game. I was a Yankee fan ever since.
