They were probably hoping it was just a fluke. And perhaps he was looking strong in practices and preseason. Or maybe the back-up looked even worse. But I agree Grossman is a joke.

What in this game showed you Rex was worse than he was last year? He completed 52% of his passes (on target with his averages), he made mistakes (but none catastrophic), and was not the reason the Bears won/lost.
Yes, Rex fumbled. That's classic Grossman. The interception I will defend. Berrian began a break towards the pilon, and just gave up. As a QB, you have to anticipate what your receiver is going to do. Rex did so, and Berrian hung him out to dry. And, Rex played against a top 5 defense in the league. Many QBs would put up similar stats, even elite QBs.
What'll make or break the Bears's season is the RB situation. Can Benson handle the workload? Can Peterson come in if needed? Will they have to resort to Garrett Wolfe? Maybe trading Jones was more of a mistake than I or others thought.
And back on Rex, what options are there besides Rex? Orton or Griese are no better. You can't always have a stud QB. Rex is an average QB. Take away 3 of his interceptions last year (which I'm sure 3 of his 20 weren't his fault) and he is statistically average. But, QB stats/ratings don't always mean everything. He did help take the Bears to the Super Bowl.
Until there is a better option, the Bears need to just stick with Rex.

Grossman has good days and bad days.
Bears Defence was doing Really good to stop LT and usual Yardage.
Grossman was the problem they lost. He sucks that game but whats there to say? he just couldn't handle Chargers Defence.
but some blame was to the Recievers to

actually i thought grossman looked better than last year , not exactly meaning he looked good , but he was making better , more accurate throws, but DA bears lol should be worried about their running game , Benson and peterson gained nothing on the Chargers

Rex...to find a word that is suitable for him...sucks!
Damn shame too, cause the Bears have an overall great team, but he will be the downfall of this team this season.
