Dangling a carrot is the concept that you can tie a carrot to a stick and put the stick in your mule's neck so that the carrot dangles in front of his face. You can make the mule go forward thinking that he can get the treat, but of coarse he really never can.

At the dog races, carrots are attached to the metal rabbits the dogs are chasing. Transparent dangling carrots, therefore, are the equivilent of a dog running after a real carrot but in human terms. People often run after things and people who seem to have the aura of that carrot!

she was talking about wind chimes made of glass. i've seen them. they are little carrots. they're sooo cute!!!
