The public duly notified
Was upset when first addressed
Yet none were truly qualified
to understand what was confessed

Was it given free and willing?
Could this be a travesty?
All could agree that it was chilling
Judgement by such a magistracy

So they live in fear each day
Men are practical if not brave
Here it's clear the price they'll pay
For their liberty is in the grave

Try it this way, the way poetry normally is written by more modern poets:

The public duly notified
was upset when first addressed,
yet none were truly qualified
to understand what was confessed.

Was it given free and willing?
Could this be a travesty?
All could agree it was a chilling
judgment by such a magistracy.

So they live in fear each day.
Men are practical, if not brave.
Here it's clear the price they'll pay
for their liberty is in the grave.

(I only changed one word to adjust a grammar flaw, and just amended the rest to show standard punctuations. It's a pretty good poem, my friend. Nice work!)

It was great!

I would say add commas and periods,
And on the last sentence on the last stanza, take out "their" to smoothen the flow, and replace it with the, so it becomes;

"For liberty's in their grave."
-Or something like that.

But that's just my opinion!

I liked it because the words were carefully structured, and the images played out on my mind pretty well.

Don't listen to other people when they say "It's not that great," or, "Terrible," just keep writing the way you want to write :)

Cheers, and much love.

It's not great, and I see no plausable way of improving it without completely re-writting it.

But I do like the message.
