It really depends on what you take. While the general approach you would learn would serve you in all courses, the style of writing you use would differ. I teach business, and I know that we are often frustrated when students try to write flowery papers instead of the concise businesslike reports we need from them.

YES!!!!!!!! i don't care if you take biology or government or art, you will have to write a paper that will be graded based on the fact that you have taken such a course and have done well. Don't think that because it's not an english paper that it won't be graded like one. you will write more than you think.

it depends on colleges. in high school, they made us write on the college level from 10th grade on. when i got to college, it was the same thing. they are sticklers on format and not so much content until you get to a more advanced english. my english 320 class was easy peazy, also. i would focus on format then worry about content. they want everything by the book-references, lettering, apa or mla style, cover sheet, then they want tons of sources.

if you're a good writer already, then no. i'm an english major and took a 100-level because it was 'suggested' and it was SUCHHH a waste of time.
