Too early to call it for the Chargers. It is not impossible that Sunday will be a preview of the AFC championship game. Or that may come in November when the Patriots play the Colts. Patriots fans believe that this is the best Patriots team ever assembled with Moss and Welker (not to mention Stallworth and Watson) as receivers and Moroney and Morris running reliably, Brady has ample options on offense. The defense proved itself against the Jets yesterday. But as you point out the season is young. A Chargers loss Sunday will not necessarily mean anything to their playoff and Super Bowl hopes.

Of course, and not just because I am a rabid Bolt fan. They are bringing back the majority of strong performers, will keep their offensive and defensive schemes even with new coaches and are more hungry now than ever. The schedule may look tough, but we still play the Raiders twice, the Texans, Lions at home and the two of the three toughest games (Colts, Bears) are at home. Outside of the AFC West, we play the Jags, Titans, Pack and Vikes away (Pats away is the only major threat). I am not going to say that they will go undefeated, even though I could see it happening, but they will still dominate. Both the Broncs and the Pats are buying like they are scared.

I think they had a better shot with Shottenhiemer. I know him and the front office didn't hit it off, but to take a coach who couldn't get through the playoffs and replace him with coach who couldn't get to the playoffs doesn't increase your chances. Week 1 is week 1. They played a good team, didn't look great but they won. They are a good team, no question. But they wont get through indy or new england.
