I will probably cry sometime tomorrow, I have every Sept 11th since the attack. My calender from USAA shows Sept 11th as Partiot's day. If we where to ever add another holiday in the US I thing 9/11 should be it. Having said that both Memorial Day and Veterans Day have become nothing more than commercial Holidays. Most places have a parade to honor the Vets; but then it is opened up for business as usual. The same goes for the 4th of July...kinda sad for a retired veteran like me.

The one in May is fine. If we had a memorial day for every bad event that happened we would never have a day without some sort of memorial day. From your thinking December 7 should also be a memorial day. How about June 6 (D Day) or we could have one on April 6 (start of WWI)?

We already have a memorial day on September 11. It's called Patriot Day.

I don't think we should have a day off for 9/11. We would treat it like just another day off rather than possibly having an assembly or moment of scilence in your school. It makes you think about the thousands of lives that were taken on that day, one of my best friends dad died on 9/11, she takes the day off from school to go to the memorial to mourn her dad, not to just have no work. In other words, no.

I'll commemorate the day by putting a "Atheism cures religious terrorism" bumper sticker on my car.

I would be happy with flags being flown half staff every September 11

Why should we have to wait for the US government to make it a holiday. Call in sick to work or school, put a flag out.

It shouldn't be a national holiday but we should honor and remember what happened on 9/11.

Not an official paid holiday day. It costs too much for a holiday like that...let everyone remember the day their own way.

A very sentimental idea, but it's just another paid day off for Federal employees. They have enough now, so, no thank you.
