i have to write a paper on equiano's book "the intersting narrative and other writings"... in what ways did equiano use strategies of both accommodation and resisitance to slavery in order to obtain his freedom?

i read the chapters assigned, but i don't know what to right about, all i got out of it was that he went along woth being a slave until he had enough money to buy himself!!!

please if u have read this book can u help me out?!?!?

He was only ten or so and got used to his position. He couldn't do much about it, not knowing the language for some time, being in fear and probably didn't know where to go. He accomodated because sometimes the going was good and he was learning a lot and liked some of the people he met along the way. It was almost all he knew by then. Learning more we all take advantage of the best we can or are willing to do. I haven't read the other books and don't remember all of this one, but I think the question is more what he did to accomodate or resist as we all have to move when the time is right. "When you're the hammer strike, when the anvil bear". He was usually in a pretty good situation compares to other slaves, because he had been taught good character, how to read, seamanship and some math, so rather than risk really heavy punishment or death he took the best options. Hope that helps. You can probably pick out specific situations where he took the better course for each situation to give as examples. After all he bought himself free by age twenty one. Not bad, and then helped abolish slavery.
