I asked this a few hours ago, but it was in the afternoon when everyone was still at work. I had tryouts for our school musical today, and I tried out for Meg (the play is Brigadoon) who has two songs, 120-ish lines, and moderate dancing. I did very well on the singing (I'm in the most advanced choir in our school) and pretty well on the speaking, but I'm not very good at dancing (mostly because they teach it to you in 30 seconds and then have you do it). Do you think I will make the callbacks?
Also, any advice for if I do make callbacks would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I did check, JustAnotherGuy, but you were the only person that answered so I thought I'd see if I could get input from a few other people as well. Thanks, though.

It sounds like you did great, but it would be extremely irresponsible for anyone but the director to speculate whether you will get a call-back.

There are many reasons why you may or may not get a callback and it will all depend on the Director's visions of the show and characters and how well you fit that and how you stack up against the competition.

It's great that you felt like it went well, though I can tell you from expereince, that there are times where you feel like you knocked an audition out of the park and still don't even get a callback (this is usually to do with reason #1 - not fitting the Director's vision).

So, my advice when it comes to auditioning is to do it and then forget about it. Don't get too hung up on it, because then you'll be more disappointed if you don't get one. Just enjoy the fact that you gave a good performance (so key! Auditioning is nervewracking so giving a good one always feels great!) and just look towards the next one!

Best of luck!!

It depends on what you need most for each of the roles because some roles may involve more singing than dancing and some may be the opposite. Anyway, overall I think you will make the callbacks. But remember that the callbacks are only for the lead roles and if you dont make them it doesnt mean you didnt make it into the play, you could just have recieved a supporting or in the chorus. Good Luck!:)

Well, we can't really say unless we actually see how you did. But it sounds as though you actually did well, you'll probably get a callback. With my experience in school plays (lol, my tryouts are tomorrow) I feel like they care the least about dancing, because most people can be taught a simple dance, but it's harder to teach someone to act or sing.
Good luck, and let us know if you get it! :)

You did ask this earlier, and I answered. Why didn't you check?
Seriously, who knows if you will get a call-back? There is no way for us to guess what the director and musical director may be looking for. Just do your best and when you know you had nothing extra to give then you must be satisfied with that. Break a leg!

It is hard to tell. If you do, fine, go and enjoy the chance to audition again. When you do audition, do so with great energy and enthusiasm. Even what is difficult for you to do.

If you don't, no biggie, there are always other shows. Find another in a near by community theatre, and audition there.
