Az court ordered a judgment for alimony. The wife is in Az the husband resides in NC. Does Az have jurisdiction over NC and does an employer have to abide by another states judgment? Does the court or the employer have any obligation to inform the employee that this is going to happen?

Oh just pay it. The order may have to be registered in NC for the sheriff to enforce it, but it can and will get done. The employee should know dang well it's going to happen so no whining. You don't get a pass for crossing a state line or 2.

The judgment is against the employee, not the employer. If the NC resident received notice, responded to the complaint, and the divorce was fully tried in AZ, the courts in AZ absolutely have jurisdiction over the NC resident. The employer will have to abide by the lawful ruling of the AZ court, thanks to the Full Faith and Credit clause of the US Constitution. The judgment itself is your notice. Once they find you, they'll just start collecting against you, AND they can bill you for the time you wasted by making them track you down.
