8x-1=23-4x start out with the problem
+1 +1 add 1 on each side ( -1 and 1 cancel out)
8x=24-4x write the new version after completing step two
+4x +4x add 4x on each side (-4x and 4x cancel out)
12x=24 divide by 12 on each side
x=2! and whah-la! theres your answer!
