I agree! But since each generation gets worse as the years go by, and our country keeps going farther & farther downward.... it is impossible to find someone with his honesty and integrity to lead our country. I mean, there are people like that but nobody would vote for them. ("Thou shalt not lie" is one of the 10 Commandments so some people these days think that should not be mixed into our government business.)
Honest politicians get nowhere...then when we think we finallllly have one in office, he commits adultary then lies about it (2 sins back to back, geeeeeez). I could go on & on over this one & that one....but what's the use?
I am not a preacher, but I am a parent who is afraid for my child's future because of the filth in this country...in this world. I am not saying he needs the church to become a good person, but he needs positive, responsible role models. (I try to be that for him!) I believe that THE leader of our country should be honest and show the highest integrity. He is supposed to be one of the largest influences in our country afterall.

Not sure if Id want Washington today. According to the book 1776 (great book by the way) they suggest that Washington was indecisive and had trouble making tangible decisions.
I think Teddy Roosevelt or Reagan would be a good choice.

We can, if we elect Ron Paul. Read Washington's Fairwell Address. It could be Ron Paul's platform. Avoid entangling alliances. Mind your own business. Follow the Constitution. Ron Paul could unite the country as well. Much of what he espouses could win the support of Democrats and Independents as well as truly conservative Republicans. He's honest, has integrity and common sense. He's intelligent and humble. What more could we ask for?

While it is true that he sort of sought noteriety as a General, he didn't really want to be President. By that time he just wanted to go back to Mount Vernon and farm and make whiskey. He was sort of drafted because he was so well liked at the end of the war. You really need to want power to get through the election process. I think anyone who just wants to farm and distill justs wants to enjoy life and doesn't need a lot of minions waiting on them hand and foot so we won't have someone like Washington again.

With every president, there are people who are oppositional. There will always be somebody who disagrees with the way things are being done . . . dissent is, after all, the highest form of democracy.
Because we weren't there to see Washington in action, we can only go by what history tells us . . . unfortunately, history is sometimes wrong -- and it allows us, especially for things further in the past, to idealize, rather than to see things in their real nature.
Washington may have been a great president to others, but I'm sure to some, he was a terrible leader.
