Because I don't know how to yet! I don't have the equipment to do it with. Scanner and all that stuff. But I do have a friend who is coming over within a week to teach me how to do a number of things to place in my blog. Like some of my artwork, and photographs. I'm hoping to make something of a revolving door of artwork on the main page. As for my image for an avatar? Maybe, but right now I have this great photo of my hound, and I would like to use her muzzle and mug for my avatar.
And that is why I haven't put my picture in here yet. Stay tuned though, I want to change that within the week.

I am not afraid but I just don't think putting your real pic up is the best idea.

I don't trust people, how do I know that is your real picture? You can just put anyone picture in there and no one would know.
