What I mean is, at what age do people start questioning what he/she read instead of taking it as face value?

For instance, someone reads one article and automatically believes what is written.

At what age do you think people start questioning the article and start seeking other points of views and coming to their own opinion/belief through inductive/deductive reasoning

Gray; LOL, great answer but you do not need to encourage me. I already question things...probably more than I should.

No age limit.

If it smells like crap, well it probably is crap.

If people don't follow what the bible says, then they can't be called Christians. They can say anything, but if their actions go against the teachings of Jesus Christ, then they are not Christian. They were often Roman Catholic and that church was militant. That is not Christian at all. Prior to the 'dark ages', there was a huge apostasy, a huge falling away. In Revelations, most of the churches named were already failing, so it had to result in a terrible fall. So the dark ages lasted a long time and it was Christianity in name only, but there was always a remnant which would have to remain hidden during that time.

It all really depends on the person's upbringing, in how they were taught by their parents ... If they are taught by Conservative parents to the age of early adulthood, then they would be able to differentiate between the lines of what's fact, and what's fictitious; what's Liberal propaganda and what's not!!

Now, If they enroll in a Liberal college or universtity where the Liberal mantra is the basic educational instruction, they most usually will take everything at face value, because the Liberal mantra says - "If it feels good, do it" mentor. In essence, they are taught to "self-serve" receiving no knowledge of self-discipline, or restraint, thus...The Liberal mantra dictates that the "individual" is more important than for society as a whole, and that civility may be the rule of the day.

Our Culture is collapsing in a most unfortunate way ... I was just watching on Oreilly this evening about how the young people are acting more Radical in the displaying of their bodies before the world, without thought to the impact they are having on society ... They are changing it for the worst (Cursing parents, and teachers with the F word ect, ect)....
...This would tell us that, the ubringing of our children belongs to the parents, and 'not' to the State.

I started when I was 12, when I used to watch Rush with my father.
One day I just started wondering...how could anyone be the kind of people he makes them out to be. I started doing my own research on many of his claims, and found them to be less than what I would consider accurate. After that, I quit watching TV altogether, except for a little japanimation. If it is going to be fake anyway, I figure it might as well have a good storyline.

According to Jean Piaget's Theory of Cognitive development, it is not possible for most people until about 12 years old at the earliest, when they reach the Formal Operation Stage of mental development, but some people never get there (i.e. they are the morons that cut you off in traffic and decide it was the wrong lane for them after all). So basically 12 years old but adult morons take stuff at face value.

I subscribe to the point of view that people need to be taught HOW to think and not WHAT to think. Unfortunately, I don't see evidence that public education is succeeding with this.

I do not recall at what age I started subscribing to this theory but it was probably after I became aware that I had been suckered long enough.

Glen...I'm not sure age has anything to do with it. I think it's about mentally growing up and deciding to think for one's self.

It literally frightens me to read so many posts on this site that come parroted straight from some news show, talk radio fool, or "pundit".

Glen, start NOW! Don't believe anything you read (ESPECIALLY ON THIS SITE!) until you've sought out information, sifted though it IN YOUR OWN MIND, and listened to your gut and your heart and THEN you will have what you need to represent what YOU really think and feel--not some overpaid or over-angry "outsider".

Star really reading some of the spewed, baseless garbage on this site. Be AWARE of it. Refuse to buy into it without research.

Here's a good place to start: http://www.dennis4president.com/home/

Good luck, My Friend....

I started when I was 14 , then again I was taught to question mostly everything . I guess an average person starts to question when they hit mid 30s

I can't remember when I started. More people need to, instead of taking face values and staying complacent.

I think Winston Churchill
best defined it as this :
if you are not a liberal in your 20's you don't have a heart
if your not conservative in your 30's you don't have a brain

There's no age that it happens. It's more about intelligence, education and exposure to different viewpoints.
