I agree but there are so many sins greater than you mentioned. Killing innocent people are too grave as a sin. Greediness and jealousy joins your examples as greatest sins of men.
Thanks for the question and good day!

Well, my mind just does NOT function in terms of "sins", but you can certainly trace back the "unchecked" social spread of both selfishness and domination to the Ronald Reagan era.
BTW: The indiscriminate use of the lexis "well" is another Reagan nicety/legacy that some of us (myself included) seem to have been plagued with ever since. Now, whether that qualifies as a sin or not, I guess you have to ask Jerry Falwell; oh but wait a minute Falwell is dead (Farewell Jerry lol), okay then try The Pope, or The Ayatollahs, or any of the other Honorable Fanatics around. Good Luck!

using God's name in vain is another sin, as well as jealousy, adultery, lieing, not obeying the parents since our society has gone bizark..some major ones that i see in today's society is jealousy, something that i am dealing with at the moment..i agree with you that most people in today's society are selfish since that is human nature yet it turns into egotism and then being vain..being selfish once in a while and putting you before everryone else is okay but not every day..also another sin is the lack of taking responsability for our actions which i do not know if you can consider it a sin yet it is a huge factor in society.now a days i see younger and younger kids who graduate and all they care about is $120 working out outfits and $50,000 cars that they received..

I believe the greatest sin is against the self (or is that selfish) as the light of god dwells within our spirit. So in a vague way, then yes I suppose they are.
self neglect is a huge one, dont you think? We need to look after ourselves physically, spiritually and mentally, it`s not often we manage all three at once.....(speaking for myself of course or is thaty being selfish?)
I think envy/jealousy are probbally the biggies though as they can cause deep rooted unrest within and huge wrongs without.

I believe the greatest sins are committed by the worlds religions. You used the word dimination which is what Islam and Catholicism are most guilty of. Religious influence is responsible for more atricities than anything else in history.

yes i agree Rena, Most humans do have their own interests in mind.Humanity greatest sin is selfishness on all kinds of levels. And the urge to trample people under foot if they are in the way,so that they can gain their power of immaterial wealth. The real test is to put people first and to help others, which we may come across on our paths, to offer them knowledge ,commonsense and support, to be a pillar of strength to them. And to cloak them with true genuine love.

i think the greatest sin in the world is when we act just to hurt the other.i mean sometimes we causes sin but without knowing that we are hurting others than we feel guilty and we apologize and we ask for mercy.and its normal because no one is perfect.but the true sin is what we do knowing that we are hurting others.and to me i think the greatest sin is killing or raping ..... i mean all that sick behaviors

Yes I do Agree! people today think
of themselves more that to serve others
maybe sometimes I do Too!
One more sin that comes next to selfishness is
Boasting About Tommrow, future and success.
Some people boast about their tomorow, people think they hold their life about the tomorow,
they think that tomorow they will be still living tomorow.
To think at that we don't really hold our life, that we can only hold is now. time cannot be returned, and life is too short for us to realize that we are just wasting time with our selfishness, and thinking about our self.

The greatest faults are selfishness (including laziness) and false pride (lack of gratitude).
It's not my call when those faults become sins.

I agree regarding selfishness. Do you not find it sad that the more posessions people have, the more selfish they seem to
become?
Envy is probably the reason for most mindless vandalism,
burglary and petty theft, with idleness (Not prepared to work
for what they need, but still determined to have it.), following
close behind.
