The reason I ask is, most immigrants would be set in their ways culturally and how they think the government should be run, so they wouldn't have had enough time to assimilate and become "Americanized". Which may conflict with our cultural and moral values and the way we have run the gov. since it's inception. So they come here, and if there is a high enough population of them in a given district of a state, a politician will most likely pander to them and try to introduce legislation that would favor them, yet most native born citizens would probably disagree with. Or they may elect one of their own to office. Either way, it may eventually completely change the landscape of this countries cultural/moral values, laws and our gov.; at the very least it will change the local areas.
Wouldn't it be better to have a law that forbid immigrants from voting. Allowing only their children that were born and raised in the US to vote? Since they would most likely be fully assimilated.

We are already seeing this in places like Miami, where everything is Hispanic themed, or Minneapolis where a high muslim population has elected the first muslim to congress. This is the stepping stone these foreigners need to change the landscape of this country to better suit their religion, laws, culture, and/or the form of government of their home countries. For example, someone from a socialist style government would most likely vote for a candidate that had socialist views.
Why should we cater to them and change a winning formula that has worked for over 200 years?

Yes! They are not of our culture and do not share our ideals! Live here at least ten years as a citizen then maybe we will throw them a bone! Enough is enough!

Good lord no. What a horrible idea. They gave up their lives in their own country for freedom and opportunity. They ARE what it means to be an American.
Think back to when the Irish came to the US in droves. People back then hated them because there were so many. Many refused to hire Irish. Eventually the Irish became policeman and mayors and politicians, but they were still the minority! And what piece of legislation could they possibly pass that would that would favor only them.
Today we may have some distaste for the cultures of modern immigrants but eventually they will be assimilated into our culture, which takes time. Don't forget that we have to assimilate some of their culture. Every March 17th is St. Patty's day! We are after all, the melting pot.

I agree. Why go to war with a country, when you can simply infest it and change the country through voting. Especially considering how much the democrats pander to these special interest groups and minorities. General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union Nikita Khrushchev said:
"We can't expect the American People to jump from Capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small doses of Socialism, until they awaken one day to find that they have Communism."
And the way to do this, besides introducing small amounts of socialism, is to allow immigrants that have no idea how the American government works the right to vote.

Just being a immigrant doesn't give one to vote.
I think we should change our citizenship policy for one to become a citizen. One need to have assimilated and speak English and have taken a civic/US history course. Prove they can support them self not be able to have family unification and not ever committed a crime minor or major.

Obama is your guy. between the justifications he have been given Biden on his value ticket (to no longer spite Hillary, lol) is that Biden has *very* reliable professional-gun credentials. He even stated if Obama needed to do away with Biden's 2 Berretta shotguns, he'd could do it the stressful way. the only different difficulty Obama disagrees with you on is healthcare. there is no longer adequate room to describe intimately why his plan is nice, yet suffice it to declare that the present state of healthcare in this united states is abysmal. that's undesirable adequate that a lot of human beings clog emergency rooms with final-minute fixes to wellness issues which could be solved lots extra affordably with before intervention, however the worst section is that when you consider that HMOs are not technically coverage firms, they're under NO criminal criminal accountability to certainly pay your costs once you pick for the coverage. You pay, often times contained in direction of the nostril for a wellness plan, yet once you pick for surgical operation or a pass to to the ER they have absolute and extremely final discretion to refuse to pay for it. fairly they scouse borrow all of the money you pay them for advantages. Obama's wellness plan for united statesa. might end that.

I would support a law that required immigrants to be legal citizens, and having shown proficiency in english, they may vote, barring a felony conviction. I fine it ironic however that if I were to immigrate to Mexico, i could neither vote, hold office, or own property of my choosing....

no US citizens should ever be deprived of the right to vote their conscience (I assume that you realize that immigrants who are not US citizens can not legally vote)
"they come here, and if there is a high enough population of them in a given district of a state, a politician will most likely pander to them and try to introduce legislation that would favor them, "
of course they will, that's democracy and the way it should be

If immigrants become citizens then they should have equal representation in government.
And to quote you you said why change a formula that worked for 200 years.
The Europeans came and ruined civilizations that worked for 1000s of years. The US is filling up with immigrants therefore it is logical to say the United States current ideas are already immigrant influenced. If you only allow a portion of the population to vote you are leaving the other tax payers without representation. (TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION). A revolution will be at hand if that gets passed

See, we have laws, Legal immigrants can't vote, Illegal immigrants can't vote, But Legal U.S. Citizens can, or Legal Immigrants that have become legal U.S. Citizens can vote, I think you learn this in the 5th or 6 th grade, it's pretty much common sense, but if common sense was common, we all would have it,

whcwarrior_10, i find it awful ironic that you speak of English proficiency and spell FIND as "FINE".
You do realize we have many enlisted men and women that are immigrants right??!
Common Sense, most foreigners know more about American politics, than many Americans.
