One of the most popular and beautiful species of snakes that is good for a beginner, is the Corn Snake. The species is hardy, easy to keep and feed, and is available in an amazing rainbow of colors.

There are many corn snake breeders and forums on the net, you can easily find plenty of information and also find snakes for sale from knowledgeable breeders of corn snakes. A good breeder can also help and advise you and answer your questions about feeding, care, etc.

You might want to check out the forums on www.reptilerooms.com. They have excellent care sheets and you can talk to people who own various species to help you make up your mind. Good for you for doing your homework first and learning about different snakes before purchasing one. You won't be sorry!

a kingsnake. they are freakin awesome! they are limegreen like bright lime green! you can get one at petco for about 60-65 bucks. i hate snakes and never wanted one, but this one is so cool i almost made an exception. it was also tiny. i have no idea how big they get but everyone else has a ball python and corn snake and rat snake so i figured be a bit different.

congrats on your approval to get a pet!

So long as you don't mind feeding them mice, rat snakes are great pets. I used to crittersit one for a friend of mine and he was really nice, never bit anyone, even her students.

I would personally start out with something smaller.
But if you are fully educated and willing to take responsibility for something that is going to get huge! then go for it.
Search the internet for caring for pythons, best of luck

I'd go for a red tip boa constrictor. They make good pets if handled gently.

Pythons tend to be very tempermental and it gets worse as they grow to full adulthood.

Go for the boa.
