I just bought Netgear RangeMax Next Wireless-N Router(WNR834B) with adapter about $130.00 Becuase Store told me that is best to buy now. But when I back home and surch information, it's said Wireless-N is still new and stay with Wireless-G.

I only use my computer for surfing and e-mailing. I don't do game. Should I get Wireless-G? If so, what time should I get?

Following is my spec.

OS is XP home edition
Wireless LAN 802.11a/g
Pentium 4 pro 2.80 GHz
60GB HDD
512 MB DDR SDRAM

Thank you so much.

Since it came with adapter it will work, but make sure you disable the internal G device. Sounds like he sold you a unit the store gets the best price/profit in selling. Was it Best Buy and a Netgear system? If you can, I would recommend returning it and get a Linksys WRT54G with out speed boost. It should only be $49-59. It is a good solid unit with excellent support. Speed boost is only needed in a multi-computer setup in a small business. Be sure to set up security, change the password, and set the wireless channel to 11 to avoid interference.

N will work with your system, but spending $130 on it when you don't even have an N adapter on your system is pointless. Take it back and get a G router, which will cost $60 or less. The guy at the store was not being helpful at all.

in the adventure that your laptop has USB ports on the back or the front, i've got confidence your device must be compatible with a instantaneous router. we've a instantaneous router in our homestead and one device isn't ordinary-under pressure to the router and the different is instantaneous. The instantaneous one has a small connector that plugs into my USB port and that does the trick with my device. in case you hardwire it on your laptop, you would be plugging a sparkling piece of equipment interior your device so in case you're no longer comfortable commencing up "the field" then pass with the instantaneous yet remember, the instantaneous won't have as rapid a reaction because of the fact the hardwired one does, observing the gap from the router. we are related to broadband cable, to their modem, and that related to the router.

"N" should work with your "G" laptop. "N" is downward compatible.
