Hi!!
I am an avid reader, I like fiction and historical fiction - couple with a believable bit of fantasy.
I like Bernard Cornwell, Lee child and Robert jordan - am looking for something a bit 'cornwell-esque' , something I can immerse myself in.
I like harry potter and varied things like that, basically something to get me away from the grind of everyday life!
Any suggestions?

Why not read Susan Cooper's The Dark is Rising series before that movie comes out? Have you read Anne McCaffrey's Pern novels--those are wonderful. You might also like Gene Wolfe's Soldier of the Mist. It is about a soldier that forgets everything every day and has to write it all down.

How bout John Twelve Hawks. Hes written a trilogy called the Fourth Realm. the first two books are available. They are titled The Traveler and the second is titled The Dark River. Its sci-fi at its finest. The storyline about the Author is that he lives off the grid. No SS# no Drivers license no permanent address no phone but a sat phone. Pretty interesting stuff plus the books are terrific.

"The Autobiography of Henry VIII" by Margaret George was good. So was "Rose Without a Thorn" by Jean Plaidy. It's a little light to immerse yourself in, but still a good book.
"A Rose for the Crown" is also a good book, but it's definitely a sappy love story, even though it's very well written.
I liked "Abundance" about Marie Antoinette.

The Innocent Man by John Grisham - reads like fiction but is a true story.

For historical fiction, try "The Witch of Blackbird Pond" by Elizabeth George Speare (one of my faves), "My Brother Sam is Dead" by James Collier, or "Cold Mountain" by Charles Frazier (this one starts off slow, but I promise it's a good read) if you haven't already read them. I also enjoyed "The House of the Scorpion" by Nancy Farmer, which is fantasy/sci-fi-ish, and the "Guardians of Ga'Hoole" series by Kathryn Lasky.

Happy hunting!

My favorite book of all time is
Across the nightingale floor
There is 3 more books following this, but they are fantastic. It is set in Asia and is a love story, but it has such impact on the history of the area and a good read.
