u can buy a product, i call it "fly gunk". u can buy it at any farm equipment store. what it does is jells up the blood. the animal will die within 6ft of the bowl. it stinks to high heaven. it is a powder. i mixed it with coca cola. for some reason it smells good to a rat, but stinks bad for humans. its really good stuff. and with it jelling up the rats blood. it will not make it stink when it dies. trust me on this. my ex father in law is a farmer. hope this helps.

YES there is

it is available at pretty much all hardware stores and several of the "mart" stores carry it as well

ask the sales rep if they have the green or red blocks for rodent killing

green is good

red is much better

place the blocks under places like the stove or fridge make sure kids and pets can not get to them

these blocks are very good at rodent killing ...BUT if you have a cat and the cat happens to eat the rodent after it has had a bit of the block the cat will be just as stiff and that isnt a good thing

so be careful how you use them

Any dead animal will stink. No matter what purpose or poison you use to kill the lil critters or how long it takes them to die, they will all stink, especially in humid conditions. After a few weeks the smell would go away as the body decomposes but it wouldnt be pretty.

I use peppermint oil soaked into cotton balls and leave them lying around the house. They're supposed to stink to mice and keep them OUT of the house, period. So far, so good. The real test will be when winter comes and they get cold outside.

I don't want to endanger my pets or my neighbor's cats, who might eat the dead rats and die.

No - dead things must decompose resulting in a stink
