You are walking in a forest. there is a troll standing there. There are two paths in a forest, one to the right, and one to the left. One way leads you out of the forest safely and the other way leads you to a very painful death by wild animals. You can ask the troll one question nonly. But, the troll tells the truth every other day. For example, if he tell the truth today, he will lie tomorrow. If he lies today, he will tell the truth tomorrow. You don't know which daya he is on. You have one question you can ask him to save your life. What will you ask him and WHY?

I would ask:

When you are on the day when you lie, which path would you say leads to death?

If he is truthful he will point out the safe path.

If he is a liar he will also point out the safe path.

Hummmm? Interesting dilemma. Good logical question 50/50.
There is two paths A and B.
50 percent chance A or B leads to life or death. We can ask the bird one question. Again 50 percent chance he will tell the truth or not. How can I overcome this 50/50 dilemma?

Answer - I would say hey troll. I`am going to walk down path A. Will you climb into my basket so that I can tie you up and take you down the path with me?
This way I can avoid his answer altogether. I can judge his actions. If he climbs into the basket obviously path A is safe. If he does not`t climb in well then path B is safe. He may say Yes or No depending on whether or not he is set to tell the truth or lie. But this is irrelevant. Whether or not he climbs into my basket is key.

Yeah Rae above makes a good point, that way we'd figure out if he's in his "lying-day" or not...HOWEVER, then we'd have wasted the ONLY question we had...we need something to make the damn troll tells us the right path.....what an excellent riddle...and I have no idea, as always....

please post the right answer soon!!!! I'll mark you as favorite to check the answer, I'm dying here!!!!! LOL

yeah well, I guess Todd hit the nail, either way the troll would answer profitably for us...good job

but when you ask the troll a tricky question to know if he's lying or not, you can find out if its truth day or not but you still don't get to know which path you should take cause you lost your one chance to ask.

hmmmm....I would ask him to walk with me out of the forest, and would trick him to deal with the monsters. "hey troll..these monsters say you stink! "

I'd say "How are you?" The reason, nobody ever ask a troll in the woods how he's doing. Trolls have feelings to ya know. Kindness will get you farther than you know.

So I would ask him " Are you a troll?"
Either way I think we could guess if he were lying or not.
