We know that any three points not on the same straight line determine a plane.
Coplanar: four or more than four points on the same plane. Example: (0,0,0) (1,0,0), (0,1,0), and (1,1,0)

Non-coplanar: four or more than four points NOT on the same plane. Example: (0,0,0) (1,0,0), (0,1,0), and (0,0,1)

The difference between coplanar and non-coplanar: For 4 coplanar points, they can not form a tetrahedron, or a volume calculation of such a tetrahedron would result a zero. For 4 non-coplanar points, they CAN form a tetrahedron, or a volume calculation of such a tetrahedron would result a NON-zero volume.
