Basically I just did a very complex deal where there was trading of cars and money and stuff, and a motorcycle 2007 Suzuki GSX-R 600 was left to me as colateral. And to make a long story short, he didnt do what he said he was going to do and i need to sell the bike. Well, the thing is I lost the key. Is there ANYWAY at all I can get a key for it. Is there like something I can stick in the ignition cylinder to make a copy of it? Or a way I can take it apart to get a mold made? Because I don't want to part it out, because it a beautiful machine. But, I need the money soon.

Thanks a million,
James

Find a local locksmith, on the web or in your local yellow pages. Not every locksmith does motorcycles, but many do. Some even have books that tell them what key to cut for the number on the lock. It may run $50 - $100 but that is less than a new lock assembly.
Of course, if you have some mechanical skills and can get to the assembly to remove it, you may be able to buy an aftermarket or used ignition lock assembly on the web or at a local motorcycle junkyard. Then just replace the old lock with the new one.

The dealer is the easiest place to get a key from but you will have to provide proof of ownership. You can also call a locksmith but he may require the same thing. if you haven't put the bike in your name all you have to do is pull out the ignition and order (or buy from a dealer) a replacement. It is easy to do.

James - call a Suzuki dealer. There are only X amount of key shapes they use, and they can usually tell what key is yours by a serial number on the bike... You can just buy a new key.

Good luck.

Locksmith
When bike shops loose a customer's key, they bring the ignition switch to a locksmith.

Just call a locksmith that makes keys, you might have to go to the suzuki dealership and buy the blank key and take it to the locksmith.

Any dealer (car, bike, boat, etc.) can give you a new key with a VIN. Just remember it's illegal to sell that bike without having the title.
