If I put up a mail recepticle will they mail carrier just automatically add it to his route or do I need to notify someone? How does this work? Maybe I'll just rent a PO Box.

you go to the post office where you lived and fill out a change of address form. then you start notifying all the places you normally get mail from that you have a new address. the junk mail will find you.

You can do a Change of Address for online at www.usps.com

That form is basically the same one you would mail to the post office to let you know that you have moved.

Even if you got a PO Box you would still need to submit the Change of Address form.
