My neighbor said there is an acupuncture practice where all of the needles go into the ears and that it isn't done in the US. She said it isn't the typical acupuncture that is done for illnesses.

In most states, acupuncture is a licensed health care profession. In addition to a license from the state, Acupuncturists must have at least master's level training in acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine. Acupuncture is most well known in this country for treating pain, but it is a complete system of medicine. Acupuncture can be very beneficial in treating the effects of Parkinson's.

Ear acupuncture is often used alone as treatment for addiction withdrawal. Your neighbor is probably thinking of a clinic that specializes in this.

Depending on your location, it shouldn't be too difficult to find a helpful acupuncturist near you. Check www.acupuncturetoday.com or www.acufinder.com for listings.
