alot of ppl i know are saying they like square enix i dont know why but i really really dont think square enix is making rpg games or other games just as good or better than square soft.
i think they are just focused on the graphics, cg anime, etc. there just adding alot of flair. stuff thats not the main reason why a game is good. square enix doesnt seem to have depth in the games they make or an attractive storyline. like FF x-2 was horrible, 11 was bad, 12 is not as good as 10 or at least the depth of the game isnt. some say there both the same if squaresoft and enix are the same then why change the name and its not the same cuz the games made by enix is different from soft. square enix is missing the nucleus of all the games they make. your thoughts.

I agree totally.

FFX-2 was made primarily to recoup the cash lost by making Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. It was also the reason Square merged with Enix.

What FFX-2 was supposed to be about was Yuna's quest to find Tidus, but it seemed quickly forgotten in the endless - and in all honesty, boring - battles. It should never have been about securing enough points to get the happy ending - the happy ending should have been the set goal for just completing the whole adventure. Final Fantasy doesn't need multiple outcomes to it's story-line - the storyline is the reason I play FF games. I never played XI, but I was so looking forward to XII. What I got was a glorified battle game that has stolen the Star Wars movies, with no love story and very little in the way of a point. Vaan and Penelo are Luke, Ashe is Leia, Balthier is Han and Fran is Chewbacca. Which makes Bashe Obi-wan without powers I guess - and the whole thing is set in some world that looks like it came from the Star Wars prequels. And does anyone else think the Emperor in FFXII looks like the Emperor in Star Wars and the empire's troops bear more that a passing resemblence to Star Wars stormtroopers? In previous instalments of FF, the cut-scenes told a story or were nice little introductory punches to new characters. In FFXII they're just nothing. The story would roll along perfectly well without them, because there is no story.

Square needs to go back to what they do best - creating amazing games with wonderful storylines that appeal to both male and female gamers. They were in the privileged position of being unique in the gaming world. Now they're just one of the sheep.

FF X-2 and 11 were both finished before the Square and Enix merger happened, and 12 was well underway. Plus, I feel 12 was the best FF since the SNES days. About the only game that has been start to finish developed under SquarEnix was FF7: Dirge of Cerberus.

I agree. While I enjoyed FF12, it just didn't have the feel of FF10. FF10 was so epic, the story totally drew me in, and I felt like I knew the characters more than in FF12. I agree that FF10-2 was sub-par, but I was so eager to continue my FF10 experience that it's a bit of a "guilty pleasure" for me. I'm really hoping Square-Enix gets their stuff together for FF13.
