If you are having one drink (say a small glass of wine or a single beer) WITH your meal, there is no reason at all to even interupt normal breastfeeding. One drink does not even necessitate pumping beforehand.
Edit:
Brandi M is severely misinformed. There is no, absolutely NO need to pump and dump for such a small amount of alcohol, let alone for 24 hours!! When you no longer feel the effects (ie no longer "tipsy") there is no alcohol in your milk!! It is GONE from your body by the time your buzz wears off. This is usually an hour or two after having a drink, NOT 24!!

This is a good calculator http://www.obfocus.com/calculators/alcoholinmilk.htm
I breastfeed and occasionally have a drink or 2. The most Ive had is 2 drinks in 4 hrs and breastfed after. I know that untill 3 month its hard for the baby to metabolize alcohol so its best to have none untill then. One drink ever so often is ok. If you want to drink even a couple times a week its best to give expressed milk during those times ( d/t the repeated alcohol expose)

long adequate to place the glass down and %. up the toddler. After a million-2 beverages you do no longer could wait in any respect. in case you experience impaired, wait till you experience sober adequate to shield the toddler thoroughly. (in user-friendly terms a hint of alcohol gets into the milk, and till you're fairly wasted, there wouldnt' be adequate there to do the slightest harm on your toddler.) (i'm hoping you would be smart adequate to ignore concerning the thoroughly ludicrous suggestion to pump 8 bottles according to drink ... different than for the reality that alcohol would not improve interior the milk and isn't any longer stored there -- alcohol is alcohol. that's not correct if that's in a glass of beer or a shot of vodka, as quickly as that's on your physique that's precisely the comparable.)

It depends how much you drink. I would pump enough to freeze and then you will have it on hand for 3 months or so. Just make sure you put the dates of when you pumped. It just depends on when you want to drink and how much. But I would pump several days before you start drinking.

depends how much you drink i guess but i think your allowd to have 1 unit = half a beer 1 shot with coke etc or a small glass of wine leaving atlease 2-3 hours before feeding again...but you could always pump enough to last the rest of the evenings feeds if your really worried

If you have one drink, then you should be fine.
If you feel like your buzzed, then i wouldnt breast feed.
if you only have one drink, then it would take about one hour for the alcohol to leave your body.
I would pump enough for one feeding for your daughter if you are really worried.

your body processes alcohol at 1 serving an hour
1 serving =
1 oz 80 proof
5 oz wine
12 oz beer
all my dr's have said a glass at dinner won't hurt you or the baby. they can not ethically do research to find the cut off point so they tell you none.

I would pump two feedings worth to be on the safe side. I asked my lacation consultant when I was pumping for my son (He was a preemie and on a feeding tube) and she told me it takes an hour.

oh geez .......you do not need to pump and dump.....that is silly
having a drink with dinner is absolutely OKAY......and like others are saying it takes about an hour for your body to metabolize the alcohol
a drink is seriously nothing to over analyze
