Mendel, He introduced, developed his ideas and applied them with incontrobutable results that the community could accept.

Darwin, Introduced his ideas and went preatty much nowhere. He really didnt do much after writing his books on his galapagos trip; and wasnt very widely accepted

He came out with unproven theory of evolution and rejected the believe in God as The Creator. Darwin himself admitted 150 years ago: "... I am well aware that scarcely a single point is discussed in this volume on which facts cannot be adduced, often apparently leading to conclusions directly opposite to those at which I have arrived. A fair result can be obtained only by fully stating and balancing the facts and arguments on both sides of each question; and this cannot possibly be here done." With these words, Darwin states unhesitatingly that his claim does not square with the facts—for which reason he has ignored them.
