I need this for my LA class. We're reading The Catcher in the Rye and since Holden (the main character) hates phony people, for some reason my LA teacher told us to answer this question: What makes a person a phony?

Also, this question: Do you think phony people think that they are phony? I think that they don't think themselves as phony people but I need reasons

thanksss

A phony person is one who is not truthful and does things or says things to impress others.

Sometimes a phony person will carry on his phony personality for so long that he comes to believe it is real. Usually they don't realize they are phony. They just think they are real. They want to please others, to fit in to whatever group they are with at the moment. Then they change their personality again to fit in with the next group. Like a chameleon.

What makes a person phony is trying to be someone that they are not.

I think that lying makes a person a phony. and people who lie would surely know they are lying, unless it really gets in their head and they're living a lie.

I don't know. MAYBE?
