I have painful burning on urination for about 2 weeks. My urine was concentrated, cloudy, and bad smelling. I am also 8 weeks pregnant. My OB put me on Macrobid for 7 days. On the 6th day of treatment I still had no relief of symptoms... the burning got worse, it was intolerably painful and stinging. But the urine culture was negative, and only showed a few white blood cells. I went back to my OB, gave another Urine sample. This time they put me on Fosomycin one time dose. It said to wait 3 days... it has been 4 days, and I still have the burning, but it is not as bad as before. My urine is also normal smelling and starting to become clear... and not concentrated like it was before. Also the second urine sample turned out negative. I am very confused, both urine cultures are negative, two different antibiotics,. drinking lots of water and cranberry, but the burning wont go away. It only burns when I pee. Also am negative for chlamydia or gonorrhea. Why is it burning when I pee???

Why would both urine cultures come back negative? The burning just wont go away. I drink tons and tons of water and drink concentrated cranberry juice all the time. STDs were NEGATIVE. Does anyone have any ideas what is wrong?

STD probably, I had a UTI recently and was treated with macrobid, I never had a bad scent and it wasn't terribly cloudy, just a bit darker than usual. I think you need a pap... badly. And there could be something terribly wrong with your tract that is not bacterial. And macrobid does not cure a Viral UTI.

I just saw you were negative on the STDs... I definitely think something is wrong with your urethra then. Maybe a wound? or maybe some sort of raw tissue? Either way It does NOT sound like a UTI. Your urethra, unlike males is very close to the surface and is only like 1 to 2 inches long so something may have irritated the area.

I have been given some UTI's in early being pregnant too, you are able to take a cranberry nutrition, it is the main organic thank you to get rid of it. regardless of what human beings inform you, it fairly is attainable to get rid of a UTI with a brilliant form of water and a cranberry nutrition thrice an afternoon. you need to drink a brilliant form of water so which you fairly urinate each and every time you have that srong painful urge. you will come across this over the counter. Or, cranberry justice, even though it must be organic, like from a wellness nutrition shop, no longer those you come across interior the juice isle of the food market, the sugar in it makes it worse. there is an antibiotic it fairly is risk-free for the time of being pregnant, yet you need to et a perscription for it. yet remeber, on antibiotics, you need to consume yogurt widespread to keep away from a yeast an infection. As for medicaid, it is diverse for each state, you basically ought to pass notice for it.

Have they checked you for high blood sugar/glucose in the urine/Gestational Diabetes?

Sometimes elevated glucose will cause concentrated or cloudy urine. Drink LOTS Of water either way. Sorry, hope you feel better soon.

PS. If you are not Gestational, eat a handful of dried (low sugar) cranberries every day. I use to have UTI's all the time until I started eating cranberries every day. Not the pills, just dried cranberries or unsweetened cranberry juice. Check it out..

hey i have suffered these all my life . i once had a bad infection go undetected like you say tests not showing that i had infection and 2 days later i ended up in hospital.. they need to check for bacterial residue (nitrites) and traces of blood also. it may be more advanced than a UTI which thats how all mine come straight to my kidneys ! ( i had opperation when young ) check for infections of the following
Urethritis – infection of the urethra
Cystitis – infection of the bladder
Pyelonephritis – infection of the kidneys.

The urine sample that you gave the second time will not show anything as you still have antibiotics in your system, it should have been advised you wait ( obv you cant ) thats why this test shows negative ! cranberry will help but really if its this bad and your pregnant you should be on a drip in hospital ( they do not allow me to go more than 2 days with a bad infection before im in hospital )
There is another product you buy over the counter its Called URAL its in a green box contains satchels that you mix with water and when its bad like yours you drink 3 a day it will not hurt you baby but it helps flush your system out much quicker .. Avoid baths sex and be extra careful down there if it gets to bad or you get pain in either side of your back or tummy then go to emergency and they will test you on the spot for everything and admit you if needed as you do not want this travelling to your kidneys etc and you do not want to harm your baby .
Good Luck

could be a bad yeast infection. antibiotics won't help with yeast infections because it's a fungal infection instead of bacterial.
