I have been shown many ways to complete the square but nothing is making a connection how do you do it again could someone help me with the equation x(squared)-4x+4?

x ² - 4 x + 2 ² - 2 ² + 4
( x ² - 4 x + 4 ) - 4 + 4
( x - 2 ) ²

x^2 - 4x + 4 = (x-2)^2
