Before I got fired, I found out that many people that I worked with knew about it. One of the girls that worked for me actually told them. Isn't this illegal and what can I do about it?

Depends on your state's laws.... but it is probably not illegal. However it is unethical, unprofessional and tacky for managers to gossip about who is going to get fired and for that knowledge to be spread around... especially before the fired person is told.

If you are considering legal action forget about it... it would probably be a frivolous lawsuit.

Suck it up and go find another job. You think that when you get fired only your immediate boss has the right to know. Usually your substandard performance is discussed with other employees. Your boss needs input to confirm you needed firing. And gossip at work is very hard to prove. You might do better to worry more about getting yourself together so that you don't get fired again and stop worrying about getting even--you probably got what you deserved.

It's not illegal. They can post it on the company website if they want to. Employment is not subject to any privacy laws or the fact you were terminated.

Unless the employer slandered you when he told the other employees, he is within his rights. He's a grease ball but he hasn't broken the law if the facts you present are accurate.
