I mean for books. Are they reliable? How many times have you used them?

I assume you are referring to vanity presses. The ones you pay to print books for you. They aren't publishers and none of them are reliable. They are not free as they claim and most of them are involved in dozens and dozens of lawsuits. Are you familiar with Preditors and Editors and Absolute Write Water Cooler's Bewares and Background Checks forums? You can check out the name of a publisher there and learn whether or not they are legit. In the case of Absolute Write, you can read comments from other authors regarding their personal experiences.

You do not "use" a real publisher. A real publisher selects books to publish and buys them - either from an agent in the case of large publishing houses or directly from the author in the case of smaller publishers.

Currently, I ghostwrite for a major sports figure who is published by a top five NY publisher. Pax - C
