Usually acting headshots are black and white and color photos are used for modeling. You want to use something that shows off your general personality i.e. if you're a happy person don't pick a shot were you have a serious face because usually it's not showing off your natural assets. Make it simple, no mirrors or weird props in the photos. If you email me I'd be happy to send you an example of one of mine. Hope that helps.

It is extremely preferrable to have a black and white headshot. To be honest, it's always more flattering really. But I know it's also less expensive as a rule. (since an actor needs many copies usually).

try and make it black and white but when you send it off to agencies make your resume short list any experience and make sure the resume looks proffesional. also list if you have any vocal, modeling, or acting training. any special talents from skate boarding to ballet to instruments. any talents could be valuable assets. get a proffessional photographer. if you are nerdy do a picture that shows off that, don't do a GIRL-NEXT-DOOR look. if you are a girl next door type then show that show what is natural in your photo and i mean natural personality. also do not just drop by an agency that is saying take me away in handcuffs i beg you. they do not see anyone they do not have an appointment but yes an acting headshot should prefferably be black and white. do research and find info and agencies but do not beg them to see you bye bye now

According to my manager, the trend is changing. Casting directors now want color head-shots.
