the goal and result of college should be to help you be well -rounded, knowing a little about a lot of subjects (other then your major), understanding that there are various opinions on most subjects, that life isnt always black and white, to have a desire to continue learning/explorying, how to research topics, how to express yourself to the audience you are addressing, and much more
and yes those basic core skills, if learned, will serve you well, threw all your life! and help you learn the things that were not specifically taught to you in college, you should have learned how to learn

College/university lets many people down. Unless you have selected a specific program/degree you are missing important information such as group dynamics, politics, social interactions, conflict resolution, sexual diversity, etc. These are essential to living well in the community past graduation.

What is the most valuable is not necessarily the content of the course, but in learning new ways to think. Learning to be a critical thinker prepares us for life in a variety of ways.
