This is pretty cool. I found out about this recently. This is a UCLA professor who is offering his screen writing course online free for you to do on your own. Give it a shot.

I have written three screen plays before. However I am not to sure what you are asking. Are you asking how I thought of my ideas? If so they really just come to me, I know that sounds wierd. If you are trying to create a screenplay with magic you kind of have no boundries since you can do anythind with magic. You could have a more normal story and add magic concepts here there or you could go all out which is what I would do. Just relax your mind when you think about it and give yourself a kids imagination.
Good Luck.

I've produced a few feature-length projects that landed distribution deals. Not too mention over two dozen short films.

"magic" takes work. A great story doesn't necessarily make a great script. You need to put a lot of time into constructing the scenes and captivating your audience every single minute. Production time is expensive, and every word of dialogue in your script must make forward progress otherwise its a waste of time and money.

If you want to write a fanciful story and just let it wander aimlessly, don't try to make it into a script. It won't work. To build a script that someone wants to buy and produce will take a lot of effort and (most likely) several re-writes.

I've written a book that discusses the fundamental aspects of captivating an audience. There is a science to it, and if properly applied, you can keep the attention of any audience regardless of the story itself.

I wrote a realistic fiction book. It's not real good, I was just bored during the summer. Now I'm writing a fantasy.
